How long do domain transfers take?

The time frame for domain transfers to go through completely depends on how long it takes the 'losing' registrar to process the transfer request and release the domain. If no problems are encountered, transfers usually takes three business days. When you submit for a domain transfer, please ensure the following:

1) Your domain name is active (not expired) and UNLOCKED.
2) A valid email address you can access is listed in the Registrant email address in the public WHOIS database (An approval request is sent to that email that you must click on to approve the transfer)
3) All privacy protections are turned off on the domain otherwise this will prevent you from getting the transfer request approvals.

Once a transfer has been submitted, you may also want to contact your previous registrar to confirm that they have received the transfer request and that they will approve and process it as soon as possible.
